Granda Liturgical Arts
Granda is the fulfillment of the artistic vision of a Spanish priest, Rev. Felix Granda y Buylla who founded the workshops in 1891 in Madrid.
A young priest who was also a painter, sculptor and designer, Felix Granda was concerned by the widespread degradation of the liturgical arts during the last half of the XIX century. Granted permission from the local Ordinary, Granda assembled best artists and craftsman living in Madrid and vicinity with a desire to form an artistic enterprise. The goal of the newly founded studio was to recapture the beauty and splendor that were always characteristic of Christian art for worship.
The modus operandi of the founder was not only to craft artifacts that would be suitable for the liturgy but to design and create artworks of noble beauty and expert craftsmanship, using best materials available and–most importantly–to reclaim the sacred symbolism that was gradually being lost through lack of attention and sensitivity to the iconographic heritage of Christian art.
125 years later, Granda workshops continue to operate on the principles established by its founder. Motivated by the desire to serve the Church and inspired by the artistic vision of Felix Granda, our studio has completed over 900 interior design and renovation projects all over the world as well as hundreds of commissions for outstanding individual artworks such as tabernacles, monstrances, chalices, statues, and vestments.
The principal office and workshop of the company are located in Madrid, Spain. The satellite offices and consultants are working from the United Kingdom, Poland, Australia and Oceania, as well as the United States.
